Landscapes

My landscapes focus on the area around Brighton where I live, but I also enjoy working scenes in my sketchbook when I am travelling. I paint urban scenes, seascapes and landscapes and I particularly enjoy painting dramatic skies. I make preliminary sketches and takes photos plein air and then work at capturing the mood of the scene in my studio. My inspiration comes from reflected water, colour, the seasons, the mood at dusk and the excitement of glowing lamp light at night.
