portraits

Professional portraits in oils painted from life or photographs. My aim is to capture the mood and character of the sitter as well as perfect likeness. I focus on a certain level of realism but like to be expressive and painterly in my style.

My most notable client to date is Lord Tom Sawyer, (General Secretary of the Labour Party – 94 to ‘98) who commissioned a portrait of his mother and a mural of the dockers strike march of 1889.

commissioning a portrait

Click here to visit the portrait commissioning page for a full summary of how to commission a portrait.
I also provide some guidance on what sort of photos are best for me to work from and how the whole process works from commissioning to delivery. I’ve been painting for years, so if you feel like you need some advice on what will make a good painting or have a special request, please get in touch for a chat.
